Light and airy is the ‘look du jour’ when it comes to real estate sales, and this customer wanted to maximize their chances to sell quickly and at the highest price; so they decided to update their color scheme a little bit on the main level and basement.  The walls had several colors, including their Jimmy Buffet – themed billiard room downstairs, complete with deep purple trim.

We simplified things by painting all the walls our go-to Benjamin Moore color – Elmira White (HC-84) in an eggshell finish for washability.  The trim had multiple whites in various sheens (plus the purple, of course) so we repainted everything in Benjamin Moore’s ‘Advance’ in brilliant white with a semi-gloss sheen.  Advance is our absolute favorite trim paint as it is made with the old-school alkyds suspended in an acrylic base, so is doesn’t take days to thoroughly dry (and weeks to quit smelling) but it’s harder than ordinary paint and has the pearlessence oil paints are known for.

The changes are dramatic!
